Being a parent can be lonely, frustrating, and over-whelming at times.

There are many reasons why families need support and Home-Start Dumfries can help tailor the support to the family’s needs.

There for parents when they need us the most

Some of the reasons families need support include:

Feeling isolated and lonely and no support network

Poor mental health or postnatal depression

Multiple birth or several children under 5 years

Family breakdown

Bereavement within the family

Disability/illness in the family (parent and/or child)

Help with budgeting

Support with attending appointments

Some of the ways a volunteer can help are:

Be a listening ear and someone to talk to

Offer friendship and advice

Help accompany you to appointments

Encourage play and interaction with your child/children

Signposting to other services in the community

Build Confidence
